Growing up I heard many adults say that as they got older it seemed like time just flew by; there were never enough hours in a day. Well, lately I've thought quite a bit about the saying, "My how time flies." As I've grown older, it does seem there is never enough time to get done what I set out to do on any given day. But, I just don't think it has anything to do with my age. I've come to the conclusion time actually is traveling faster! Rolling faster, and gaining momentum much as a snowball rolling down a hill.
Here's my deduction. Consider all the things that needed to get done in a day, let's say, 100 years ago. They supposedly had the same number of hours in a day as we do, and had to do everything between the hours of sunrise and sunset due to poor lighting and electricity. So, they even functioned with a shortened amount of work time.
They didn't have modern day distractions such as TV, email, internet or telephones, saving them a little time. But think about it... they had to rise with the sun, gather some wood, make a fire in the stove, milk the cow, churn the butter, gather the eggs, smoke the meat, make breakfast, walk to the river to scrub their laundry, walk back, hang things out to dry, make lunch, tend the garden, bridle the horse to ride the carriage slowly to town and back for supplies, teach the children their lessons, bring the clothes in off the line, cook dinner, sew, knit, and repair clothing, etc., etc., etc., and all before sundown. Hmmm?
Today, we can't seem to get half of that done in a day even with diswashers, washer & dryers, microwaves, phones, and fast food. See what I mean?
In conclusion, no matter my age, our inability to accomplish common tasks in one day is baffling. I don't think it would be physically possible to be as productive in a day as people used to be in the past. That just proves to me that time actually is quickening, running faster, and ticking out fewer minutes to work with.
At this rate, in a few years we might not even have enough time to grab fast food and eat those three squares within the sunlit hours of a day. Have you noticed the possibility of this phenomenon?

True Humor
This came in an email I wanted to share. Just a little food for thought. Points to ponder.
♥ A president's pension currently is $191,300 per year, until he is 80 years old.
♥ Assuming the next president lives to age 80. Sen. McCain would receive ZERO pension as he would reach 80 at the end of two terms as president.
♥ Sen. Obama would be retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive $4,973,800 in pension.
♥ Therefore it would certainly make economic sense to elect McCain in November. How's that for non partisan thinking?

Politservation
A Political Observation
We were afraid when Ronald Reagan, the actor, went to Washington. We were afraid it was all for show.
In this campaign, in this season, of this cultural soup: shallow, vain, and dishonest to a fault, feigned as acting demands, the political arena has truly "gone Hollywood." Guaranteed this time... alot of acting is going on.
I'm not impressed. There are times when charisma is dangerous. Through progress and change we've television indoctrinated the present generation to see life as a staged reality TV show.
Forget the facts, the experience, the credit checks, forget a reasonable future. You've heard it on the evening news, (staged) in a season of financial deficit, it's all about; WOW! Who's spending the most for the biggest campaign "show." Record breaking commercials, internet campaigns, and the smooth comforting pseudo-reality entertainment, of home, family, and a rosey bright tomorrow.
I'm voting for Joe The Plumber. He's got more experience. You?

Greasy Greed
The greasy wheel gets the grease except when it comes to oil prices. The latest lie has to do with the new, lower price of gas. Supposedly gas prices have come down because consumers stopped driving so much and used less? Since when do you lower your prices because people buy LESS of something?
I have observed the following actual scenario for the last few years. When it comes time to take vacation, and drive more, bang, gas prices go way up. When everyone settles in for Monday night football, (thus using LESS gas) prices decrease until around the holidays when the gas lords choose to spike it again.
Duh...It's all about the money people. Hell yes! The oil companies can certainly earn more and more if they raise prices and stick it to us when we're using maximum amounts of gas. Of course! They know we'll pay it, because most drivers have already made arrangements to travel in the summer and during the holidays. Then every time this happens and the American people begin to moan, groan, and SQUEAK under the pressure, they sooth us by saying, "We don't have any control over foreign oil prices, they keep going up, we just pass it on." And then they eventually wind up eeking the prices down to placate us. It's a bunch of bunk if you ask me. This is a consciously decided play, to price gouge sporadically at peak times. It's simply greasy greed!
Record breaking prices supposedly spiked because of hurricane Ike that hit the Texas coast; an area that produces gas! My My! How could that be if we're supposedly relying on foreign oil so heavily? Seriously, gas prices rose even before the Hurricane made landfall. We saw it go up locally more than .50 a gallon within 24 hours. Local gas stations had NOT sold out. They had plenty.
Wake Up! Now, suddenly, prices can decrease this drastically. My question... When did the Middle Eastern oil moguls begin to like us enough to reduce their oil prices this drastically? When did they ever reduce prices enough so that gas at the pump falls $1.00 a gallon in a couple of weeks? WELL? Never! And, we're supposed to believe prices go up because of foreign oil prices, and yet they go down because we CAN'T pay and stop driving? I DON'T THINK SO! They just think we're all idiots.
Could this be a social experiment to see how well the dumbing down of America has taken hold? To learn how complacent we've become in the face of personal disaster? An experiment to see how loudly Americans will howl when dishonesty prevails, or how quickly they will revolt?
Or... is it just a power and control game the big oil company moguls love to play with the little American people so they can hit record quarterly profits and line those greasy pockets?
Got some thoughts? Wake up and comment.
